A street fight involving a weapon has been caught on camera.

Footage shared to Facebook shows a man being attacked with a cricket bat on Heaphy Terrace, Fairfield, Hamilton.

Police say they received reports of a group of people fighting at about 9.30am.

'There is a report one of the people involved in the fight was carrying a cricket bat,” says a police spokesperson.

'Police responded to the report immediately but the offenders had already left the scene when Police arrived just four minutes later.

'Police have spoken with witnesses and are making enquiries to establish what has happened.”
