The Tauranga-based Trustpower TECT rescue helicopter was dispatched on Saturday, after a woman presented with a serious medical condition at her local medical centre.

The helicopter flew to Te Kaha at around 12pm, where the 52-year-old woman was being tended to by St John ambulance and medical centre staff.

The woman was then airlifted to Whakatane hospital in a serious condition for medical treatment.
