People are being warned to stay away from a baby seal which has been spotted wiggling around on Mount Main Beach.
A Department of Conservation spokesperson says they received a call from a lady who spotted the seal to the left side of the boat shed.
She was worried the seal was badly hurt, as it wasn't moving much and had a cut on its left flipper.
Tauranga seal expects have checked the baby seals condition and have put road cones around it, so that the public are aware to stay back.
'We don't want to move him, just in case the mother comes back and then can't find its baby. Seals can be quite aggressive.”
