What's on Today: Ground Hum

A Whakatane local artist Jordan-Davey-Emms will be doing an informative artist talk about her current exhibition Ground Hum today.

Jordan will discuss her art-practice through discussion and material play on the green area outside Te Koputu a te whanga a Toi – the Whakatane Library and Exhibition Centre.

Guests will meet inside the Whakatane Community Board Gallery at 10:30am before venturing outside for a shared picnic and chat with the artist.

Jordan's installation has about 30 individual parts to it and demands audience interaction.

Her work is described as unusual and challenging as it will allow the audience to question the meaning of place and lineage.

Jordan was recently selected as the overall winner among the top Masters and Honours students from all four art schools in Auckland, receiving the prestigious 2017 Glaister Ennor Graduate Art Award at Auckland's Sanderson Gallery.

Her solo exhibition is now open to the public and will run until September 10.
