A Rotorua home has taken out this year's supreme award in the Bay of Plenty Central Plateau registered Master Builders 2017 House of the Year competition.
Urbo Homes Limited won 11 regional awards for three homes in the competition and where awarded a gold award and category win for the CARTERS New Home $1 million to $2 million award for their Rotorua home.
The results of the regional competition were revealed at a gala dinner at the ASB Baypark in Tauranga on July 28.
The Judges say the winning House of the Year sits peacefully and perfectly within its environment on the edge of Lake Tarawera.
'The design of this beautiful home is simple yet sophisticated, incorporating clever use of a variety of materials and fittings which creates a resort-like feel.”
The winning House of the Year, Lakeside Luxary is positioned on the shores of Lake Tarawera and is designed to capture lake views with 338sqm of comfort, five bedrooms, four bathrooms and open-plan living.
The interior features exposed beams, a recycled fireplace mantle, textured stone flooring, a private covered alfresco space and other luxury features like night lighting and in-slab heating.
'Attention to detail is evident in every part of this project, creating an overwhelming sense of quality. This is a property that will never date but age gracefully. It will provide the owners and future generations with a home that will always be a pleasure to live in.
'The builders have crafted this home with passion, which is a credit to them and their team of sub-contractors.”
Urbo Homes Limited also took out all five lifestyle awards for the same property: the Craftmanship Award, the Plumbing World Bathroom Excellence Award, the Heart of the Home Kitchen Award, the Outdoor Living Award and the Gerrand Floorings Interior Design and Style Award.
They were also awarded a Gold Award and Category win for the PlaceMakers Volume/Group Housing $450,000 - $700,000 award for a home in Whakatane, and a Gold Award in the PlaceMakers Volume/Group Housing up to $450,000 category for another home in Rotorua.
All 18 Gold Award winners from Bay of Plenty and Central Plateau will now be judged against Gold Award winners from around the country to find the National Gold Reserve finalists.
National category winners and the Registered Master Builders Supreme Awards for House of the Year and Renovation of the Year will be announced at a gala dinner at SKYCITY in Auckland on November 25.
