One person has died following a serious crash on Kereone Road, Ngarua, near Morrinsville.

Waikato Police were called to the scene, between Campbell Road and Pakarau Road, at 5.47am.

Another person has been taken to Waikato Hospital in a serious condition.

The section of Kereone Road will remain closed while the Serious Crash Unit investigates.

Diversions are in place.
