Direct democracy

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing and expecting a different result! I raise this as we prepare for another general election which will have, I believe, a usual bad result.

For example, across NZ, political parties will put up mediocre candidates who they can control.

Those elected will go to our parliament thinking they can make decisions without asking us.

However, once in the parliament, their party whip will tell them where to sit, how and when to vote. The wishes and interests of you and I will be ignored.

‘Democracy' means ‘rule by the people' but we will get dictatorship by the party system.

In this new communication age, I believe the system of ‘direct democracy' is what we should have.

The system as it stands is MOB RULE - ie the biggest mob or gang of voters gets to chose, NOT the cleverest or best solution - just the biggest gang. resulting in the destruction of rights of the minority (and here was me thinking even minorities have rights - silly me)NOW, when the government have the monopoly on educating these people, it ENSURES we are governed by people who do what these governments TEACH them (or dont teach them more to the point). The church once said "give me a child till hes 9 and he will be mine for life" This is why we repeat the same old mistakes - because the general public (educated by these governments) have limited their thoughts and options. And they are not about to let up their grip on the young minds so be prepared for more of the same
