AOS assist in search warrant

AOS members have been spotted near the Whakamarama Shops.

Members of public who have spotted armed offenders in the city this morning can be rest assured there is nothing to worry about.

SunLive has received a number of calls from people who have seen AOS members at the Whakamarama Shops, near Whakamarama Rd.

One caller says she passed the shops and saw a dozen cops and officers wearing full AOS suits.

A police media spokeswoman says that the AOS are currently part of a planned operation.

“This is a routine pre-planned search warrant that the AOS are assisting at,” she says.

This is a second day in a row armed police have been spotted in the Taurnaga/Western Bay area.

Yesterday, a SunLive reader emailed in to say armed police had blocked off Waimapu Pa Road.

Police says yesterday's operation was also a planned search warrant.
