Tauranga will be turning pink today.
The streets will start to look a little brighter as people from around the region prepare themselves for the Hot Pink Walk tonight.
The walk, which has been arranged by the Breast Cancer Support Tauranga, is being held at Masonic Park from 5.30pm-7.30pm.
Fiona McAllister, a member of the support network, hosted a stall in the CBD yesterday to raise awareness of the organisation and to promote the event.
'We support roughly 200 women who are diagnosed with breast cancer every year in the bay of plenty,” says Fiona.
'As an organisation, we pride ourselves on the fact that our support is local and it is women supporting other women who have had breast cancer, and their families.
'We have a room at Christopher St where people can get fellowship, meetings and help.
'We hope lots of people come out for the hot pink walk,” says Fiona.
Thousands are expected to take to the CBD streets to walk in support of those with breast cancer.
The walk is an easy 3km with great entertainment along the way, giveaways, music and dancing.
Registration is by donation: Adults $10 and children a gold coin.
Registrations can be submitted online or at any Z garage or House of Travel shop in the Tauranga region.
