A man who was fishing in the Bay of Plenty is now nursing a broken leg.
The 36-year-old man was fishing off some rocks in Waihau Bay, when he slipped a broke his lower leg.
The Trustpower TECT Rescue Helicopter was dispatched Waihau Bay just after 11am to fly the injured fisherman to hospital.
'He was stabilised at the scene by paramedics, before being flown to Tauranga hospital for treatment,” says a spokesperson for the rescue helicopter.
'The Trustpower TECT Rescue Helicopter was also dispatched on Saturday for an emergency transfer of a 61-year-old female suffering a serious medical emergency.
'The woman was flown from Tauranga Hospital to Waikato Hospital for specialist treatment.”
