There will the quiet stuff, scary stuff and the bold stuff - something for everybody.
It's the culmination of a year's work at the Te Puke Art Society, the society's annual exhibition at the Constables Gallery on Commerce Lane, one street off Jellicoe Street and just down from New World supermarket.
The society boasts around 30 artists, and 20 of them will be exhibiting. 'The work is interesting and varied,” says the society's Adrienne Cleaver. 'Some in ink, some with pallet knives, some with acrylics.” And it's all for sale.
'Pieces range from $30 to $200 – very reasonable prices. And some of that work is by semi-professional artists.”
All the work is new, and it has not been exhibited before. 'We took all the old work down this week and the new work went up in time for the official opening by Councilor Kevin Marsh,” adds Adrienne. 'Friends and family were there to see what the society has been up to this past year.”
The exhibition is a chance for locals to drop by the gallery and see the artistic talent that exists in Te Puke. 'It's free to view and you don't have to buy anything.” Just enjoy the offering. Adrienne says it helps the Te Puke community to see there is another hobby place where they are welcome to join. 'No stress, just fun and help if needed in creating many forms of art.”
The exhibition will again have the support of Tokoroa Potters. 'Their work is always very popular because it's extremely quirky. Not just bowls and things. They sell a lot of work.”
The Te Puke Art Society annual exhibition is open on Friday October 27, Saturday October 28 and Sunday October 29 from 10am-3pm at the Constables Gallery on Commerce Lane, Te Puke.
