Popular children's television show What Now is coming to Tauranga this weekend.

They'll be filming a live show at Papamoa Beach, opposite the Bluebiyou Restaurant, from 8am Sunday November 5.

What Now researcher and former Bethlehem College student Malorie Carey says she's keen to show off the city to her colleagues.

'We try and do a few shows every year out in the community, and Papamoa Beach is an awesome part of one of the fastest-growing cities in New Zealand. I'm looking forward to highlighting my hometown.”

The show was here earlier in the year for the AIMS Games, and on Sunday kids who come down will get to see rugby players and experience live music, surf lifesaving activities, and gunge games.

There will also be a sandcastle-building competition, judged by sandcastle maestro Brett Muir.

Like most Kiwi kids, Malorie grew up watching What Now, and says it's great to see a new generation engaging with it.

'They're still kid-focused in everything they do – lots of games, challenges, and gunge. It's such an iconic show.”

The filming will be going ahead rain or shine.
