The Trustpower TECT rescue helicopter was dispatched on Wednesday at 6.30pm for an emergency transfer from Tauranga Hospital.

A 73-year-old male was suffering a serious medical condition that required urgent treatment.

The man was flown on a rapid response flight to Waikato Hospital, so he could receive the specialist treatment he required.

On Monday, the rescue helicopter also undertook another emergency transfer, this time from Whakatane Hospital. A 74-year-old male had suffered a stroke and required specialist treatment. He was also flown to Waikato Hospital.
