A man has been taken to Tauranga Hospital after being hit by a vehicle near Waihi Road.

A police media spokesperson says the incident happened just before 10am.

'We were notified by ambulance staff at 9.48am that a reversing vehicle had knocked over a man on Waihi Road.

'It is unclear how badly injured the man was, however, it appears he has been taken to hospital.”

Police say enquiries into the accident are ongoing.
