Mount Drury playground gets facelift

The playground at Mount Drury Reserve is soon to be the home of a shiny new slide, as part of recent upgrades.

The installation of the slide was spotted at the end of last week by a nearby resident.

Parks and recreation manager Mark Smith says the installation was made as a result of recent assessments of the park.

“Our contractors regularly assess our play equipment. The slide at Mt Drury had come to the end of its useful life, so we're installing a new one.

“There'll also be a new safety surface, safety fencing, handrail and staircase to make sure the new slide is safe and secure for kids to use.”

The construction is expected to continue for the next three weeks, with the area set to be ready for everyday use again in early March.

What are your thoughts on the council’s proposal to increase rates 40 per cent over the next three years?

Good, it will help pay to revitilise the city
Not good, rates are high enough now
I’m ok with an increase, but maybe not such a big one
