A motorcyclist visiting New Zealand from Australia has been killed in a crash in the Waikato.

The 51-year-old, who is originally from New Zealand, died after crashing off the road and into a farm fence on Mahuta Road near SH25, Mangatarata.

Emergency services were called to the crash at 8.48pm.

'Medical assistance was provided by nearby neighbours until ambulance arrived, unfortunately the man died at the scene,” says police.

Waikato police Senior Sergeant Phil Ruddell says he was riding solo along Mahuta Rd North in Mangatarata, not far from Ngatea, when he failed to negotiate a moderate bend in the country road.
