Pedestrian hit by car near 1st Ave

UPDATED: Devonport Road near 1st Ave is closed as emergency services deal with an accident.

Police have blocked off the road as medical treatment is administered to a person who has been hit by a car.

A caller to the 0800 SUNLIVE news hotline says there are lot of people around.

A police spokesperson says the pedestrian has suffered serious injuries.

"The Police Serious Crash Unit is investigating and traffic is being diverted around the crash scene."

Motorist are advised to use alternative routes, while emergency services deal with the scene.


Reports are coming in of a crash on Devonport Road.

A caller to the 0800 SUNLIVE news hotline says a person is lying on the ground near 1st Ave.

"There are people all around. It looks quite serious."

Police are at the scene, along with medical staff.
