Tauranga crash victim named

Police have released the name of woman who died after being hit by a car in Tauranga on Friday.

Tauranga woman Barbara Joy Rowe died in Tauranga Hospital on Saturday.

The 76-year-old was hit by a car on Devonport Road on Friday, around midday.

She was taken to Tauranga Hospital in a critical condition.

In her funeral notice on SunLive, Barbara is described as a loved wife, stepmum, sister and nana.

A service for Barbara will be held on Wednesday.

“Police extends their sympathies to her family at this difficult time,” says a police spokesperson.

“The Serious Crash Unit is investigating the cause of the crash.”
