State Highway 2, south of Katikati, is closed following a three car crash.
A caller to the 0800 SUNLIVE news hotline says three cars have crashed on the highway, near Apata Station Road.
Emergency services have been called to the scene.
There are also reports of a two car nose-to-tail crash on SH2 near Te Puna Station Road.
Police are also responding to a motorbike crash on Waihi Road.

A caller to the 0800 SUNLIVE news hotline says the traffic is backed up to 11th Ave and an ambulance has been called to the scene.
A witness at the scene says the bike rider was side-swiped by another car.
"His mates say he is ok but has a sore leg."
Motorists are advised to expect delays.

And yet another crash on SH2. How many more will it take to get some action to upgrade this road??? Does no-one in authority listen??

with Julie Webster, its nothing to do with NZTA the road is alright, its the idiots that drive them, i agree with dumbkof2 its what you say, they have taken away passing lanes and put wire rope on a main hywy, for crying out loud ive driven that road for donkey ages and i do not have a problem with it, remember if you can, the old signs that use to say LSZ if you know what that means, it is driver error ALL people that have to attend these horrific accidents are HEROS they must get sick of this,seeing things that should never have happened, i take me old Stetson off to them,AWESOME PEOPLE,anyway Sunlive, im going for a coffee now with me mates in the phone box,Thankyou for being No1 for News, 10-4 out. phew.
