A crash which saw a vehicle hit a wire rope barrier on State Highway 2 near Bethlehem is believed to have potentially been due to a medical event.
Western Bay of Plenty road policing manager acting Senior Sergeant Wayne Hunter says this is not confirmed, but it's a possibility.
'No one was injured during this crash. The driver was taken to hospital for observation only.”
He says alcohol was not a factor.
'At this stage there is no reason for it. The driver did not recall the crash after being taken to the medical centre, so this could have been a medical event.”
