Revenge sought against Greerton

Platinum Pacific Reclad Mount Maunganui will be out to erase its only disappointment of last season when they meet Eves Realty Greerton in a BOP Cup match this weekend.

Last season they swept the board of Baywide and Western Bay Premier silverware, but almost 12 months to the day, Greerton provided the Mount with its only defeat of that season.

Chasing 182 for victory, Greerton got off to a disastrous start being 14/3, before Marcus Nile steadied the ship with a gritty 53, which greatly assisted the Greerton victory.

While the Mount sits at the top of the BOP Cup with Tauranga Boys' College, Greerton could be under done for the match-up on the artificial surface at Pemberton Park.

After sitting out the bye in the first round, they got little game time last weekend, with their match with Element Cadets rained out after just a few overs.

Tauranga Boys' College will engage in a Bay of Plenty secondary school derby when they host Rotorua Boys' High at Nicholson Field.

The Tauranga students are sure to be motivated by the last time the two schools met late last season.

The Rotorua students posted 195, then bowled Tauranga Boys' out for 152 to claim victory.

However, Tauranga Boys' have posted two solid victories in the first two rounds of the BOP Cup.

After disposing of the iTCo Central challenge in week one, they coasted to victory last week against East Bay United.

Bay of Plenty Indians, who were one of the big improvers in the second half of last season, will meet Te Puke on the artificial surface at Boord Park in Rotorua.

With Former Bay player Tai Bridgeman-Raison in charge this season, he leads a team of aspiring youngsters.

East Bay United faces Rotorua Central at Trident High School with both sides having some big hitters in their ranks.

Eastern Bay Alex Yates liking nothing better than to put bat to ball, while Centrals Jared Christoffersen is a prolific run scorer.
