Man critically injured in hit and run

Enquiries are being made to locate the driver of a vehicle which took off from the scene of a serious crash in Taupo.

A man was critically injuries after being hit by a vehicle on Huka Falls Road just before 2pm on Sunday.

Police say the car fled the scene and the vehicle was found nearby.

The driver is still yet to be located.

A police spokesperson says the pedestrian was flown to Waikato Hospital with critical injuries.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to the crash to come forward.
