A chainsaw, rifles and ammunition have been taken following a home invasion in Whakamarama.

Police were called to a Whakamarama address at about 10.30am, where offenders left an address with the above items, says Detective Dwayne Morgan.

'An occupant of the address was there at the time of the burglary and is assisting police with the scene examination.

'No one was injured in the incident.”

Dwayne says police will remain at the scene while the area is canvassed.

Police did have cordons in the area following the initial report, but the cordons have since been stood down.

People with information that may help with the police's investigation can contact Tauranga Police Station on 07 577 4300.

Alternatively, information can be left anonymously via the Crimestoppers 0800 555 111 line.

This will become as common as dairy robberies once National's no guns for gang members bill passes.

So we would be better to allow gangs to have guns as this is safer than then robbing people for them? Can I have some of what you are smoking?

And the alternative should be to allow gang members guns? Not that it would stop them anyway, just a pointless exercise really. Maybe NZ should allow people the ability to defend themselves in their own homes with guns then these loser home invaders might think twice about heading onto properties where they aren't invited.
