People using Waikite Road in Welcome Bay are being warned of damage following a leak in the area this morning.
A caller to the 0800 SUNLIVE news hotline says part of the road has actually come up.
"I have just been up there and cars are actually having to move onto the other side of the road to get around it.
"There is water and stones bubbling across the road. People are having to direct traffic around where the road has come up."
Tauranga City Council says there is a massive leak outside 78 Waikite Road and contractors are on the way to the scene.
