Reports are coming in of a truck breakdown on Takitimu Drive.

A caller to the 0800 SUNLIVE news hotline says the truck was on fire and smoke was obscuring his vision of the highway, near Waihi Road.

Another caller says the fire is now out and the truck is in the northbound lane of the highway.

"Emergency services have been called. Motorists might be delayed as they deal with the incident."
