One injured in two-truck crash

UPDATE - 11am:

One person has sustained moderate injuries following a crash on Takitimu Drive.

A police media spokesperson says the crash happened just after 10am.

“We were alerted to a two-truck crash at around 10.10am, at the intersection of Takitimu Drive and Elizabeth Street.

“Police and ambulance have been called to the job.

“One lane was briefly blocked but both lanes have since been reopened. Initial reports say one patient with moderate injuries.”

Earlier:

Reports are coming in of a crash on Takitimu Drive.

A caller to the 0800 SUNLIVE news hotline says a truck has crashed through a fence on the highway, near Elizabeth Street.

The caller says one lane of the road is blocked and expects motorists to experience delays.

Based on the way those impact attenuator trucks usually drive, they probably turned their flashing lights on and pulled straight out into traffic
