TBC leads BOP Cup standings

Inclement weather conditions in the first four weeks of the Baywide BOP Cup cricket competition have played havoc with the results.

An example is iTCo Central, which sits well down the points table, however, they have played just a solitary game, with a bye and two rained out affairs giving them little game time.

With expected good weather and a maximum 100 points on offer to each side, the BOP Cup competition is wide open.

Leading the points standings is 2010 Williams Cup champion Tauranga Boys' College, with three victories and a rained out match.

On Saturday they face near neighbours Eves Realty Greerton at Pemberton Park.

Tauranga Boys' will face several players who have made the transition from the school to the Tauranga suburban club in recent seasons.

Brett Hampton, Shane Wineti and Campbell Thomas are all graduates of the Tauranga Boys' first XI, and there is sure to be plenty of friendly advice handed out to the students by the trio.

Greerton got their first win points on the board last weekend, when they despatched BOP Indians at Boord Park in Rotorua.

After dismissing the opposition for 134, Greerton quickly warmed to the task and got home for victory with seven wickets to spare.

Dutch age group player James Gruijters, who is spending the summer playing for the Western Bay side, top scored with an undefeated 54 runs.

Element IMF Cadets who remain unbeaten, albeit having played just two games – will be looking to make a move up the points ladder when they travel to play BOP Indians.

Last Saturday, they blasted their way to amazing victory against Platinum Pacific Reclad Mount Maunganui, smashing 159 runs in 17 overs for the loss of just four wickets.

Rotorua Central will be itching to get out on the Te Puke Domain to face Te Puke, after little game time this season.

East Bay United travel to Rotorua, to face Rotorua Boys' High School at the student's headquarters
