BOP Rugby on the hunt for matchday volunteers

BOP Rugby are calling for matchday volunteers, including a mascot.

Steamers and Volcanix fans who like the idea of getting a little closer to their heroes and helping make games happen can put their hand up to work on matchdays.

The Bay of Plenty Rugby Union are looking for volunteers for the five Steamers' Tauranga and Rotorua dates in the upcoming Mitre 10 Cup season, and the three Volcanix matches on home territory in the Farah Palmer Cup.

The union says rugbyheads who have a positive attitude, a great work ethic, enjoy working with people and may be looking for work experience to add to their CV are welcome to apply.

Matchday roles available include Kids Zone staff, photographers, videographers, general runners and promotional staff.

BOP rugby is even on the hunt for people with something of a performance instinct who enjoy dressing in costume and interacting closely with fans to be team mascots.

The Steamers this season play three matches at the Rotorua International Stadium and two at the Tauranga Domain, while the Volcanix women have three home matches at venues yet to be determined.

Further dates may be added to the teams' schedules should they make their respective semi-finals and finals.

The union says there may also be the chance to work at events throughout the year in addition to the Mitre 10 Cup and Farah Palmer Cup games.

Volunteers can apply to work at either Tauranga or Rotorua matches, or both. To register for a position email shannon@boprugby.co.nz
