A time-lapse video has been released, showing the construction for what is set to be one of the country's largest retail complexes.

Tauranga Crossing is currently in its second phase of development and is set to open in April 2019.

Stage One opened in 2016 and comprises over 20 stores including The Warehouse, Pak'n Save, Noel Leeming and Warehouse Stationery.

The next stage builds on this, featuring an enclosed shopping centre and has been designed by Warren and Mahoney to be an ‘experiential' retail offer.

The complex will have an impressive mix of nearly 80 retailers which complement the 1000-seat, six- theatre Event cinema complex and al fresco dining terrace.

Any alternative to shopping in downtown Tauranga is a welcome addition however in saying that it is pertinent to point out that, based on overseas trends, this type of strip mall is so last century it really does highlight how behind the times we are.
