A “number of items of interest” have been recovered after a person robbed a Tauranga bank at knifepoint.

Police were called to the ANZ Bank on 11th Ave just after 10.30am, following reports of an armed robbery.

Detective Sergeant Daryl Brazier says a sole male offender, armed with a knife, was reported to have taken an undisclosed amount of cash.

“Police are currently speaking to a person in relation to this robbery and we have recovered a number of items of interest.

“At this stage there is no information on charges but we expect the man to be appearing in Tauranga District Court tomorrow.”
