Huntly homicide: vehicle recovered

Police are investigating three murders, that of Wayne Noda, left, Robert Nelson and Mitchell Paterson.

Police investigating the murder of a Huntly man have recovered the vehicle they were looking for.

Wayne Noda's murder is one of three homicides police are examining in the Waikato and Bay of Plenty areas which have happened this month.

Wayne, Robert Nelson and Mitchell Paterson were killed in what police say are gang-related murders.

Ngāruawāhia man Mitchell Curtis Rehua Paterson's body was found in the water at McLaren Falls, near Tauranga.

Robert Nelson, 23, was killed when armed intruders burst into his girlfriend Kahlee Marfell's family home and began firing.

Kahlee was injured in the shooting and has since been released from hospital.

It came a week after Huntly man Wayne Noda, 48, was found dead in the living room of his Berrymans Access Rd home, behind Huntly Power station.

He died of injuries inflicted during an assault.

Detective Sergeant Mata John says police had been seeking a blue Nissan Skyline in relation to Wayne's death.

He says this vehicle has been recovered by Police in the Hamilton area over the weekend, as a result of the public appeal via the media.

'Police are now carrying out a forensic examination on the car and are continuing to make further enquiries as part of this investigation.

'At this stage no one has been arrested.”

Police are still keen to hear from anyone who has any more information about this vehicle which may have been seen in the Huntly area between June 30 and July 21.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Sergeant Mata John on 07 828 7650.

Information can also be provided anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
