Drysdale smashes a tonne

Platinum Pacific Reclad Mount Maunganui batsman Peter Drysdale carried his bat when he smashed an undefeated 140 runs against BOP Indians in a Baywide BOP Cup match at the weekend.

Batting first at Blake Park, the defending BOP Cup titleholders got away to a flyer, posting over six runs an over in the opening 10 overs with Drysdale in dominant form.

The Indian bowlers then slowed the momentum before Nick Smith (50no) joined Drysdale at the wicket.

The pair then upped the tempo again, with Mount Maunganui declaring at 264/4 in the 110 over match.

While Shyam Bhimjiyani and Jayvant Dhanjee both got into the 30s, the Mount bowlers took control to dismiss the Rotorua team for 143.

Bay representatives Tony Goodin (4/38) and Jason Donnelly (3/19) did the damage with the ball for Mount.

Element IMF Cadets replaced Tauranga Boys' College at the top of the point's table when they defeated the Tauranga students by 128 runs.

Cadets opener Ben Christensen set his side up for big total smacking 72 runs of just 75 balls.

The opening partnership with Joe Carter (40) produced 119, with captain Jono Boult batting at three posting a half-century.

The Tauranga Boys' bowlers then warmed to their task with Josh Dwight grabbing six wickets as Cadets were dismissed for 245.

Tauranga Boys' was never in the hunt being removed for 117, with long serving Cadets bowler Campbell Wilson taking 5/25.

Batting at eight, Ben Musgrave top scored for the students with 33 not out, with coach Mark Orchard also finishing with 33 runs.

East Bay United grabbed a winning draw against Te Puke in the Eastern Bay of Plenty.

The home side posted 204/9 with former Bay rep James Mitchell top scoring with 50.

While Te Puke needed 13 runs off the last over with just a wicket in hand, they batted out the over finishing at 193/9.

iTCo Central batsmen Peter Wood led his side to victory against Eves Realty Greerton with 87 not out.

Greerton took first use of the batting strip at Boord Park, and were dismissed for 154, with the Rotorua side clinching the win points with a two-wicket victory.
