Two Black Caps tour berths secured

Bay of Plenty cricketer Trent Boult is part of a 13-man test squad named for the upcoming Black Caps tour of Australia.

Uncapped, Trent will be part of the squad which includes 10 players who were part of the recent test victory over Zimbabwe.

Hear audio below of Black Caps coach John Wright talking about the fast bowling unit Trent Boult is a part of in the upcoming tour to Australia.

The 22-year-old left-armer, who plays for the Northern Knights and was part of the New Zealand Cricket fast bowling winter camp, has been given a contact for the 2010-2012 season.

New Zealand Cricket national selector manager Kim Littlejohn says they are keen to show consistency in selection for the tour of Australia and retain the nucleus of the side which performed well against Zimbabwe.

'In choosing our squad we decided to go with 13 players and will consider adding another seamer before the first test.

'That will largely depend on how the players pull up after the warm-up match.”
He says it's pleasing to provide Trent with an opportunity.

'He is a promising young bowler and deserves his place in the squad after impressing at the NZC Fast Bowling Camp during the winter and making a strong start to the Plunket Shield.”

Tauranga Boys' College old boy Kane Williamson is also named in the 13-man squad.

He is in a good vein of form scoring 252 not out against Wellington for Northern Districts in a Plunket Shield match this week.
