Police are calling for the public's help to identify three women wanted in connection to thefts in the Bay of Plenty.

Senior Sergeant Yvonne Parker says police are asking the public to help identify two women who allegedly failed to pay for petrol at Caltex Whakatane recently.

'Without getting an explanation from them these cases remain unsolved.

'EBOP garages report numerous petrol drive-offs weekly, even though some have taken up prevention measure like CCTV, forecourt attendants and pre-paid pumps, there are many people who still fail to pay for fuel.”

Yvonne says police will continue to follow-up with the registered owners of these vehicles and urge people to ensure they do a change of ownership when they sell/trade their vehicles.

'Some have been honest mistakes which are quickly resolved, however, investigating these reports from garages and stolen debit/credit cards related inquiries is a full time job for one officer in EBOP.”

In another case, Whakatane Police are asking for help to locate a woman who recently visited Pac'n'Save in Whakatane.

Yvonne says she allegedly failed to pay for items on more than one occasion in August.

'If you can assist to identify her then please call Whakatane Police 07 3085255 and ask for Constable Scott.”

Alternatively, information can also be left anonymously via the Crimestoppers 0800 555 111 line.
