While Tauranga Boys' College was defeated by Greerton Hornets in the Western BOP Reserve Grade cricket competition – the bonus points they picked up in the encounter saw them remain at the top of the competition points ladder.

Tauranga Boys' batted first and were dismissed for 140, with Keaton Taylor (32) and Gareth Wallace (30) getting runs for the school team.

The best of the Greerton bowling attack was Dutch visitor Paul Kingma who took three wickets for just eight runs.

The Tauranga bowlers made a valiant attempt for victory, with Greerton getting home with just two wickets in hand. Greerton Reserve stalwart BJ McKenzie top scored with 34 runs, with Paul Inglis dismissed for 33.

Katikati who lurk just three points behind the competition leaders, were in dominant form against Mount Gold.

The team from the extremities of the Western Bay, took first use of the batting crease and amassed 267/5, with Ben Warren still there at the end on an unbeaten 69.

Steve Jennings grabbed three wickets as Katikati removed the Mount side for just 128 to post a comprehensive win.

In other reserve grade match-ups, Mount Green, which reached 293 all out, won a high scoring encounter with Greerton Tigers, which were dismissed for 233 – with Cadets defending 145 against Sangha CC.

Grasshoppers remained unbeaten in the B Grade title race defeating Greerton.

After setting a target of 167, the Hoppers bowlers removed their opponents for 108, to remain at the top of the points standings.

Wanderers re-inked their second place in the standings dismissing Albion for just 78, however, they lost five wickets on the way to victory.

Mount Maunganui reached 176/6 then bowled Papamoa out for 135 to move into second equal place, with Malwa CC chasing down 138 against Katikati, albeit with just one wicket to spare.
