Cordons are still in place in Papamoa after a man was allegedly stabbed to death.

Police were called to the private address on Harding Drive around 8.30am on Saturday September 22.

A police presence was at the scene all night and Todd Madden, who lives at a neighbouring property says there are police in white overalls going in and out of the house.

Todd also says he is still shaken up about over the incident.

'I had heard the kids crying earlier in the morning but just thought they had been naughty, it carried on for a bit to the point where I was going to pop over the fence to see if they were alright but didn't want to be the nosey neighbour.”

'I am kicking myself now as I may have stopped the kids from seeing what they saw. It will take a while to get the images of those kids out of my mind but I will get there. The main thing is I got to them safely and they are back with family.”

Todd continued to say the worst thing last night was the rubber necks walking past till late last night.

'It's still a beautiful neighbourhood though and even though this has happened I still believe it's a safe place.”
