A 31-year-old Rotorua man is appearing in court today after allegedly failing to stop for Police twice on Thursday.
The man failed to stop a vehicle for Police in the Brent Road area around 8.50am, and a short pursuit was initiated.
It was abandoned in Morey Street, says a police spokesperson.
"The vehicle was last seen being driven at speed on Tarawera Road.
"The same vehicle was seen again around 2:30pm on Te Ngae Road, Owhata, and the man failed to stop for Police when requested."
Police says the man allegedly drove across a median barrier, and also attempted to drive the vehicle straight towards a Police officer who was laying road spikes.
"Police abandoned the pursuit due to the man's manner of driving.
"He was arrested this evening at a private address in Rotorua."
He is appearing in Rotorua District Court tomorrow charged with failing to stop and unlawfully being in a motor vehicle.
Further charges are likely.
