Road surface laying continues

Contractors are continuing to lay new road surface at the intersection of Cameron Road and 11th Avenue this week – weather permitting.

The Tauranga City Council is expecting this to take another five or six nights to finish.


While this work is being done lane closures and a temporary speed limit will be in place.

Access to businesses in the area is being maintained.

Transportation

  • Annual Resealing Programme: Asphalt resealing work continues on various streets around the city.
  • Bell Road: To allow Tauranga Eastern Link (TEL) construction traffic to cross Bell Road, a temporary 50km/h speed restriction is in place, Monday to Saturday, from 7am to 6.30pm, until further notice. All TEL construction traffic will be on a controlled give way. Please take care when driving in the area.
  • Cameron Road and 11th Avenue: Weather permitting, contractors will continue to lay the new road surface at the intersection. This is expected to take another five or six nights to finish. While this work is being done lane closures and a temporary speed limit will be in place. Access to businesses in the area will be maintained. Please expect delays and use an alternative route if possible.
  • Parton Road: Construction activity for the Tauranga Eastern Link (TEL) continues. A temporary 30km/h speed restriction is in place Monday to Saturday, from 6am to 6pm. A manual stop/go control will be used when large trucks need to cross Parton Road. Expect minor delays and please take care when driving in the area.
  • Route K/SH29 roundabout: The lane markings for traffic entering the roundabout from Route K are being changed. Right turning traffic (to Hamilton) must enter the roundabout in the right lane only. Straight through traffic (to Rotorua) can use both lanes. Please take extra care when using this intersection.
  • State Highway 2 (Te Maunga to Domain Road): Construction activity for the Tauranga Eastern Link (TEL) continues. A long term temporary 80km/h speed restriction is in place from Te Maunga to Domain Road until further notice. Please take care and stay alert when driving through this area.
  • Tara Road (Domain Road end): To allow Tauranga Eastern Link (TEL) construction traffic to cross Tara Road, a temporary 30km/h speed restriction, with a manual stop/go will be in place for about eight weeks between 7am and 6.30pm, Monday to Saturday. Minor delays are expected. Please take care when driving in the area.
  • Tinman Event Road Closures (Mount Maunganui): On Saturday, December 3, Salisbury Avenue from the iSite to The Mall/Prince Avenue will be closed from 6am for the set up of the Tinman Triathlon event. On Sunday, December 4 the following roads will be closed for the event from 8am: Salisbury Avenue from the iSite, The Mall, Adams Avenue, Marine Parade, Oceanbeach Road, Maranui Street, and Papamoa Beach Road to Pacific View Road. The roads will reopen progressively from 11am onwards.
  • Ultrafast Broadband: Work to install Ultrafast Broadband in the city centre and in the areas around the city centre continues. Most of the work is being done off the road.
