Disorder causes Aquinas College lockdown

Update 10.58am - Police are on the hunt for two people accused of causing a lockdown at a Tauranga school.

A police media spokesperson says police responded to a disorder event at Aquinas College at about 10am.

"The college was placed in lockdown for a short period of time – however it's no longer in lockdown.

"The two people believed to be involved have left the scene and police are carrying out area enquires to locate them.

"No one is reported to have been injured during the incident."

Principal Matt Dalton sent an email out to parents assuring them that everyone is safe and classes have returned to normal.

He said the initial lockdown was initiated at 9.50am,

"The cause of the lockdown was two young female intruders who entered the college in a threatening manner.

"The lockdown lasted for a total of 20 minutes.

"Police were called and are now in control of the situation."
