Two huge batting totals dominated the Western Bay of Plenty Reserve Grade competition at the weekend.

Katikati blasted 441 for the loss of five wickets against Mount Gold at Blake Park with Greerton Hornets smacking 371 runs against Te Puke Pickers.

Katikati opening batsmen Mathew Earl was in outstanding form blasting 161, which included 14 four and three sixes.

Earl received good support from Matt Warren and Will Hayman, who were both rewarded with half centuries.

The Katikati bowlers were also in good form removing the home side for just 105 with Gene Darvill and Nick Millichip taking three wickets apiece.

Greerton Hornets also had a good day at the office hammering 371 in the match-up with Te Puke Pickers.

Paul Newland (101) blasted the second century of the weekend with Ranjeet Singh finishing just short of his side's second century when he fell on 98.

In a remarkable two over spell, Greerton bowler Carl McLaughlin put paid to the Te Puke side's chances with a remarkable five wickets without a run being recorded against the bowler's name.

The Te Puke side was dismissed for 86 to hand the Hornets a massive 285 run victory.

In other Reserve games, Cadets posted a six-wicket victory against Tauranga Boys' College, with Sangha CC defeating Mount Gold.

A hat trick by Papamoa bowler Chris Uden took centre stage in the B Grade match-up between Papamoa and Katikati.

In a game where both sides posted over two hundred runs in the 40 over per side match, Papamoa chased down 202 with three wickets to spare.
