It will encompass everything in, on and under the water.

It's the first new Tauranga Fishing and Boat Show at Baypark Arena, running for three days from Friday, November 2.

'Boats and fishing are hugely important to Tauranga,” says show director Lawrence Daly. 'If you don't own a boat, you will most probably know someone who does. At the moment, I still prefer to fish from my kayak.”

Tauranga is rapidly becoming a marine center. To reflect, showcase and celebrate that status, the Tauranga Fishing and Boat Show will feature anything and everything to do with fishing and boating.

Companies which sell and service boats and yachts will be exhibiting, alongside marine electronics, boat builders and painters and trailer parts, amongst many others.

There will be new products, fishing tackle, entertainment, fishing simulators and talks on conservation, fish stocks and safety, with Coastguard and lifeguards in attendance.

'The paddle boarders will be there along with Kawasaki and Yamaha jet skis, which are huge at the moment,” says Lawrence.

Even the knife man from Christchurch is on his way to the TFABS. 'He specialises in filleting fish, runs training courses for the fishing industry and will be selling his own range of filleting knives. There is nothing he doesn't know about filleting a fish,” says Lawrence.

Emerging businesses will also be there. 'The latest is the Bay of Plenty Boat Hire company. You can hire a boat along with all the tackle and head out for a day's fishing.”

There's something for everyone to suit every budget.
