BOP Lakeland defeats BOP Coastland

Bay of Plenty Primary cricket is in good heart, witnessed by the two Bay of Plenty teams producing over 460 runs when they met at the Northern Districts Primary tournament.

Batting first, the BOP Lakeland batsmen were in good touch with Hayze Perham, who also excels at rugby, leading the way for his team with a match winning 79 runs.

He received good support from Jamie Gale (35) and Alistair Blackett (26), who also played a big part in the Lakeland representatives finishing their turn at bat at 242/6.

Josh Ormond was the best of the Coastland bowlers returning 2/42.

The Coastland side made a determined attempt for victory, but was bowled out by their Lakeland counterparts for 226.

For the second day in a row Josh Earle top scored for his team posting 59 runs.

Andrew Norman (30) and Ruben Clinton (25) also made valuable contributions.

The main destroyer with the ball for BOP Lakeland was Alistair Blackett, who backed up his 26 runs, with five wickets at a cost of 47 runs.

Hayze Perham and Brad McKnight took two wickets apiece
