Finals time in volleyball comp

Bay of Plenty schools are excelling at the North Island Junior Volleyball Championships on at the TECT Arena at Baypark.

The competition is into the quarter finals stage with Bay of Plenty school teams dominating the draw.

Tauranga Boys' College has topped its pool and is joined in the quarter finals by Whakatane High School, Western Heights High School and Trident High School.

In the girls division, three of the four pool winners are Bay of Plenty schools; Mount Maunganui College, Bethlehem College and Tauranga Girls' College.

The girls' top eight is rounded out by Otumoetai College, Trident High School, Sir Edmund Hillary College and Upwey High School from Australia.

The quarter finals are today at 10.30am and 12.30pm.

On the Ryder Consulting centre court, Tauranga Boys' College is versus Trident High School and on the Bay of Plenty Polytechnic court Bethlehem College takes on Trident High School.

Then at 12.30pm on the Bay of Plenty Polytechnic court Tauranga Girls' College takes on Otumoetai College and on the Ryder Consulting court Whakatane High School will try to knock over Tikipunga High School.

The semi finals are at 7pm and with three Bay of Plenty teams guaranteed a semis berth, and all the other teams finished for the night, the atmosphere should be electric.

The division one girls' final is at 3.30pm on Friday, and the boys' final is at 4.45pm.
