The Melbourne Cup is upon us, with people turning to the TAB to see what horse might let them collect that extra bit of cash flow this week.

Our Place in Tauranga, is one place to stop in and check out this afternoons horse races.

From this afternoon, it will be an afternoon of races, cocktails, sweepstakes and more.

'Put your best threads on and get ready for the annual event that always gets the hearts racing,” says a statement on the Our Place Tauranga's Facebook page.

'Our food special of the day will be by Johney's Dumpling House where you can get a Mount Brewing Co. Brewery beer at High Tide and five x dumplings for $10.”

They will have the big screen set up for the history making race at 5pm.
