Hughes holds executive slot

Delwyn Hughes is to continue representing the Bay of Plenty on the New Zealand Indoor Bowls executive.

At the sport organisation's annual general meeting held in Wellington at the weekend, he was re-elected into the role.


North Wellington's Trevor Rayner was re-elected for his last year of a three year term as president of New Zealand Indoor Bowls while Martin Nordqvist, Ashburton was re-elected as deputy president. Ivon Pash, North Harbour was re-elected Patron.

All the members of the executive retained their positions including longstanding executive member and life member Delwyn Hughes from Bay of Plenty.

He was first elected to the executive in 1985 as well as Southland's Stewart Chilton, Waikato's Barry Chapman and South Otago's David Edgar.

The national umpires representative Viv Hudson, Horowhenua, was re-elected by the umpires to represent them on the executive.

The 2012 national championships will be held at Invercargill and will be hosted by the Southland Indoor Bowls Centre at their own Indoor Bowls Stadium.

The 2013 national championships are to be held at the Energy Events Centre in the Government Gardens in Rotorua, and hosted by the Bay of Plenty Centre.

North Island: Barry Chapman, Waikato (Manager), Delwyn Hughes, Bay of Plenty, Trevor Rayner, North Wellington.

South Island: Martin Nordqvist, Ashburton (Manager), David Edgar, South Otago. Stewart Chilton, Southland.

North Island Academy: Barry Chapman, Waikato (Manager), Delwyn Hughes, Bay of Plenty, Trevor Rayner, North Wellington.

South Island Academy: Martin Nordqvist, Ashburton (Manager), David Edgar, South Otago, Stewart Chilton, Southland.

Northern Zone Masters: Barry Chapman (Manager), Delwyn Hughes (Bay of Plenty), Viv Hudson (Horowhenua).
