Driver licensing no more

Driver licensing services are no longer available in Opotiki.

In a Facebook post created by NZ Transport Agency Waikato BOP, it says customers in Opotiki are likely to be aware that they had to close their driver licensing and vehicle licence plate doors in August.

'Since then we have been offering an AA mobile service most Tuesdays at the Memorial Park Sports Pavilion.

'Unfortunately, we have been unable to continue this mobile unit service throughout January.”

The post continues to say that the NZTA haven't stopped working towards an Opotiki-based agent and they hope to be able to announce a local site by the beginning of February.

The post also says they didn't set up the mobile unit as they had incorrectly anticipated they would have the premised all sorted before now.

'We are very sorry for the delay.”

If you're local to Ōpōtiki and need to renew your New Zealand driver licence, or do anything with licence plates, the nearest sites available for now are in Whakatane.

AA Whakatane, 6 Victoria Avenue, Monday - Thursday 9am - 5pm, Friday 9am - 4:30pm
VTNZ Whakatane (practical testing only, no administration), 11 Te Tahi Street, Monday - Friday 8am - 4:30pm

For motor vehicle licensing and road user charges, head to NZ Post Ōpōtiki (106 Church St). And if you just need to renew your vehicle rego, you can do it online at https://nzta.govt.nz/online-services - the label will be posted out.
