"...diversions will be put in place". What nonsense. No diversions are possible for this stretch of road. A whole community is cut off and once again the stupidity of Phil Twyford cancelling the four laning of this road is highlighted.

Total Incompetence.

The Police response was pathetic. They blocked the roadway for north and southbound traffic needlessly for over 4 hours. The vehicle concerned was in a paddock and nothing on the roadway. They said they placed a roadblock on SH2 because they were waiting for an air ambulance, then waiting for the serious crash unit, then waiting for an ambulance and then they needed to take crash scene measurements. At least 5-600 vehicles held for 4 hours due to incompetence - needlessly. One officer suggested turning round and travelling via Paeroa or wait for a further 2 hours. Yes, we all sympathise with the crash victim but the Police action was pathetic

Will upgrading the road

No, but it will reduce the rate of accidents and lessen the consequences of mistakes we all make whilst driving, for the perpertrator, other innocent road users, and the whole community.
