State Highway 2, between Katikati and Tauranga, is open following a serious crash.
Emergency services were called to the crash, between Hot Springs Road and Lund Road, around 8.30pm.
A police spokesperson says information from the scene indicates two cars were involved in the crash and one person has sustained serious injuries.
The highway was closed for several hours as a result of the crash.
NZTA reports is was re-opened around 1.40am.
The serious crash unit is investigating the cause.
