National Bay of Plenty MP Todd Muller is still pushing for a secondary school in the Western Bay of Plenty.

Back in December 2018, a petition supported by more than 2000 locals was tabled in Parliament, requesting the Government to investigate the possibility of a new secondary school.

Todd says the Education select committee will be working it into their 2019 schedule but at the moment, no date has been set.

'Jo Linthwaite is working with Karen Loten to prepare the written evidence currently.

'I hope they can get down to present in person. And like I did for the petition on State Highway 2, I will give my speaking slot to them to present on behalf of the community.

'I will also keep pressure on the Ministry of Education to make sure they are looking for suitable land.”
