Fire investigators are looking into the cause of two Bay of Plenty house fires.

A house in Whakamarama went up in flames around 10pm.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand northern fire communications shift manager Daniel Nicholson says the fire was at a property on Wainui South Road.

He says the house was 'well blaze” and it took six crews to extinguish the fire.

'It doesn't appear anyone was injured.”

Earlier in the day, firefighters were called to a blaze at a property on Ruatoki Valley Road, near Whakatane.

The 20 metres by six metre house was well ablaze when five fire crews began battling the flames around 3pm, Fire and Emergency NZ northern shift manager Daniel Nicholson says.
